Tilar Mazzeo's 2008 New York Times bestseller "The Widow Clicquot" is set to become a movie helmed by Taylor Hackford, producer and director of "Ray" and "Parker".
"The Widow Clicquot: The Story of a Champagne Empire and the Woman Who Ruled It" charts the life of Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin and the origins of the Veuve Clicquot champagne empire. Mazzeo is the author of bestselling wine guides, and NYT bestsellers The Secret of Chanel No. 5, The Widow Clicquot, and forthcoming Hotel on the Place Vendome (HarperCollins), and is co-chair of the English Department at Colby College in Maine. Earlier this year, Hackford - who will produce and direct the biopic - stepped down as the President of the Directors Guild of America after serving two two-year terms in keeping with DGA tradition. Hackford and screenwriter Charles Monger are repped by CAA.
